Although my heart continues to break, my being also grows more and more angry and all I want to do is help. If you feel the same way, here are some great ways to start:

This is why. I cannot read the newspaper anymore. I cannot check emails anymore. I cannot watch TV anymore. I cannot do any of these things anymore because they make me so sad and angry that I want to move to a mountain top, put up a fence and shoot any unwelcome trespassers.

I don't understand what happens to people that makes them think that these things are ok to do. How does one sleep? Look in the mirror? Not go bonkers from the guilt?

In the event that I do end up on trial for some sort of freak attack on a despicable human being, here are some of the reasons why I have gone bonkers myself.  For my ( future) defense:

I would love to hear of karma kicking this guys butt and he ends up electrocuted, slammed to death or tortured.

Can I strike the first match on this a**hole?

Last but not least, I received a most disturbing email today from In Defense of Animals in regards to the NY area. If you have seen anything like this, please report it:

In Defense of Animals Offers Reward to Capture NY City Pigeon Netters

In Defense of Animals (IDA) is offering a REWARD of $2,500. for information
that leads to the Arrest & Conviction of a person or persons found to have
netted and captured pigeons in New York City for the purpose of killing them
for human or animal consumption, canned hunting or any organized sale or
transfer of the birds that will lead to their death.

Eyewitnesses only must Report Information to both New York City Humane Law
Enforcement at (212) 876-7700 ext. 4450 & In Defense of Animals (415)
448-0048.

"The NY Bird Club alerted us to reports of large numbers of pigeons being
netted in New York City in the early mornings. IDA is offering a $2,500
Reward in the hope of turning up evidence to find the offender(s.) We
suspect that the birds are being transported out of state for canned hunts
and even used for human consumption in local live bird markets and restaurants.
We are concerned that this could eventually be a source of
bird flu transmission to humans." said IDA's East Coast Director,
Valerie Sicignano. This message was sent by: NY Companion Bird Club,

Tiger, orangutan babies bond as inseparable playmates

POSTED: 10:42 a.m. EST, February 28, 2007

Story Highlights

• 5-month-old female orangutans and tiger cubs live at Taman Safari zoo
• All were abandoned by their mothers shortly after birth
• The four have lived side-by-side for a month without a single act of hostility
• Tigers and orangutans are both endangered species

CISARUA, Indonesia (AP) -- Call them the odd couples.

A pair of month-old Sumatran tiger twins have become inseparable playmates with a set of young orangutans, an unthinkable match in their natural jungle habitat in Indonesia's tropical rainforests.

The friendship between 5-month-old female baby primates Nia and Irma, and cubs Dema and Manis, has blossomed at the Taman Safari zoo where they share a room in the nursery.

After being abandoned by their mothers shortly after birth, the four play fight, nipping and teasing each other, and cuddling up for a shared nap when they are worn out.

"This is unusual and would never happen in the wild," said zoo keeper Sri Suwarni, bottle-feeding a baby chimp on Wednesday. "Like human babies, they only want to play."

The four have lived side-by-side for a month without a single act of hostility, she said.

Indonesian tigers and orangutans are both endangered species, threatened by rapidly shrinking habitats.

Conservationists estimate there are fewer than 700 Sumatran tigers still alive, while fewer than 60,000 orangutans remain in the wild. Around 90 percent of the jungle has been destroyed by illegal logging, poaching and cut-and-burn farming practices on Borneo and Sumatra islands.

The exceptional friendship will likely be short-lived, said veterinarian Retno Sudarwati, because as the animals grow up their natural survival instincts will kick in.

"When the time comes, they will have to be separated. It's sad, but we can't change their natural behavior," she said. "Tigers start eating meat when they are three months old."
